`` the appearance
Lacey does not like conformity, and her appearance often makes that clear. Her hair, for starters, is not TOO out there, but still something that you would never see your everyday prep sporting. It is platinum blonde, dyed, of course, judging by the light brown colour of her eyebrows. She has sideswept bangs, and her hair has several layers to it, the longest of which reaches a bit past her chest.
As for makeup, she's been lucky enough to always have clear skin, so you won't see her with cover-up or foundation painted over her face. She generally wears a light pink lip-gloss, nothing too bright. Her eyes are the only thing that are usually heavily made-up, with black mascara and a couple layers of eyeliner. Her eyes themselves are naturally a dark brown colour, but sometimes she likes to wear bright blue coloured contacts. She loves to paint her nails, especially in bright colours.
Clothing is one of Lacey's favourite ways of expressing herself. She loves bright skinny jeans, graphic tees or shirts with words or clever sayings on them. She likes anything colourful, but does sometimes wear black. She loves cool jewelery, especially necklaces, and bracelets. Dresses are fun to wear.
Other than that, her actual face is pretty, but fairly average, at least in her opinion. Her body is sender as well and she's not very curvy. She's slightly above average in height, somewhere around 5'7".
`` the personality
Stubborn
Lacey is very opinionated and headstrong. She's persistent and rarely gives up when pursuing a goal or something that she wants. When she sees something she wants, or sets her mind on something, she’ll go for it no matter what. There's no stopping her once she gets started. She won't change her beliefs, her likes, or her habits for anyone. Her honesty can be blunt at times, but she feels like people deserve to know the truth, no matter how awful it may be. She doesn't always have to get her way, though - she definitely respects the opinions, beliefs and decisions of others.
Outgoing
Lacey is sociable and friendly, and there's nothing she enjoys more than being in the company of good friends. Sometimes she'll spend time alone to sort out her thoughts, but most other days she's seen hanging out with a friend or several. She's very spontaneous and usually acts on a whim without thinking about it; sometimes a good thing, sometimes bad. She loves a good party, and drinks to go with it. She loves to laugh and make others laugh, but she knows when it's time to stop goofing off and get serious. Lacey has always been confident and sure of herself. She walks tall (or as tall as her 5'3" frame will allow) and with purpose. She isn't afraid to speak her mind and hates to lie, even though she knows that the truth can hurt. She does filter what she says though, it's not like she'll just go up to someone and outright insult them, because that would be plain rude. But if asked a specific question, it would be very difficult for Lacey to answer untruthfully.
Loyal
Lacey is fiercely loyal towards those who are close to her. She doesn't trust too easily, but once you've got her, she's one hell of a friend to have. She'll stick with her friends no matter what they're going through, and will try her best to help them out. She doesn't care where you're from, what clique you belong to, what you look like, or what your past is like - what she thinks of you all depends on what kind of person you are. Sometimes she can be a little overprotective if someone messes with one of her friends; she just hates seeing them get hurt. Contrary to popular belief, this small girl can give a mean bitch slap.
Emotional
When Lacey is in a bad mood, she's impatient and easily irritated, but she knows how to apologize if things get out of hand or if she snaps at friend. She hates having people mad at her and equally hates being mad at people. She also hates being sad, but who doesn't? If, however, she does get very upset about something, she doesn't always know how to handle it properly. She'll tend to lock herself in her room for hours at a time, living on a diet of solely soda and potato chips (and maybe a little chocolate) -- thank god she has a high metabolism. She isn't good at dealing with grief, and if she gets into a fight with a friend she always over-analyzes it and assumes the worst.

`` into the past
Lacey Starr was born on September 13th, 1993, to happy parents Brian and Cora Starr. The pair were wealthy newlyweds, happy, young, and now with a beautiful baby girl. Their lives seemed perfect, they lived in a large apartment in Manhattan. Lacey attended private schools, getting the best education she could, and her parents couldn't be happier.
The moment Lacey got her little hands on a bottle of paint, chaos ensued. Well, sort of. Her artistic pursuits throughout her childhood were anything but pretty. She just loved the feel of paint on her fingers, and she'd try to spread it around, smearing it all over the walls, carpets, furniture, and especially herself. At first, her parents thought it was just the most adorable thing, but eventually, they got very annoyed. She was unstoppable, though, and would put up quite the fight if asked to stop. It was clear even at this young age that art was her passion.
As she got older, of course she calmed down a bit. Her interests totally flipped over from painting to photography, though she still does a lot of the former. She was quite the artistic young girl, and she fell in love with photography and the fact that she was able to turn something completely ordinary, like a piece of garbage on the street, and turn it into something beautiful. So, her paints gathered dust for a while as Lacey was distracted with her photography.
When Lacey was twelve, her family - she, her parents, and her younger brother Jeremy, aged 4 at the time - were driving home on Christmas Eve from dinner at her aunt and uncle's. They were driving home in a blizzard, so the highways had many sections with whiteouts, you could barely see anything. It was just an accident waiting to happen, and unfortunately, it DID. Neither Lacey's dad or the driver of the other car had to be impaired to hit each other straight on. The Starrs' car rolled over and landed in the ditch upside-down.
By this time, three of the four members of the family were unconscious. And one of them never woke up.
Lacey, apparently the 'lucky' one, was awake through it all. She had to sit there, trapped, unable to help her possibly dying family. It was torture, having to wait for EMS to arrive, especially in the inclement weather. So she just sat there, an endless stream of tears mixed with blood flowing down her face. She just wanted to die, right there. At least then she wouldn't have to see or remember any of it.
So, the four of them were rushed to the hospital. There, Lacey needed a spinal operation, which presented a chance that she would never walk again, but luckily, surgery was successful. Her dad, Brain, had a few broken ribs and fingers, which healed eventually. Cora got out lucky with a broken wrist and some stitches.
And as for Jeremy, Lacey's four-year-old brother, he was pronounced dead before they even arrived at the hospital.
After the accident, the entire Starr family fell apart, and I don't mean just physically. Though her parents never mentioned the accident again, Lacey could tell they thought about it every day, as did she. Her parents were never close again for some reason, and Lacey thinks they blame each other for the crash. Her parents became cold and distant, both from one another and from Lacey. Things got better eventually, a bit, but things never went back to the way it was before the whole ordeal.
Lacey's parents fight a lot. Like most kids would, Lacey fought for them to stay together, but now it's gotten to the point when she sometimes just shouts at them "get a divorce, already!". She has NO clue why they haven't yet. Lacey generally just keeps to herself when she's at home.
Freshman year, Lacey started High School at St. Wilmonds. Despite her past, she was always a very social girl, and managed to make many friends. She's still there as a Sophomore now. She has a thin, white scar down her back from the operation, but whenever asked about it, she'll try to make up some crazy excuse. Thing is, she's a really bad liar so it doesn't normally work.
So, meet Lacey. Not only will she whoop your ass in Calculus, but she's not too shabby as a photographer, either.
